Samara - a bellydance troupe based in West Yorkshire

Welcome to the Samara web site ...

We, Samara, are a group formed in 1999 who perform Arabic Dance for charity, festival and other events. We are all from the Halifax, Skipton and Keighley area in West Yorkshire, with differing levels of experience, but united in our love of this lively dance style.

We aim to provide a fun and entertaining performance, expressing the various moods of dance from the Middle East using music that ranges from modern 'Pop', through the 'classics' of the Egyptian movies, to the vibrant folk music of the country-side.

A range of performances can be scheduled from our repertoire to fit the event, the space and the audience. Few first time 'Arabic Dance' audiences will fail to be fascinated by the combination of amazing moves, shimmering costumes, and the gentle ringing of thousands of coins and beads.

Arabic Dance is a form uniquely accessible to women of all shapes, ages and sizes providing healthy exercise, a chance for self expression and growth in self-confidence. We usually end our performances with a brief opportunity for members of the audience to join us in trying out some easy moves.

Please browse our web site and get to know us better. Then, if you wish, contact us by email, telephone or letter to arrange a performance. If you need a publicity photograph please email us and we will oblige. Or you could browse our sister site WIGGLE where you can discover an Arabic Dance class near you.
