What Samara can do for you ...Our repertoire includes dances both old and new. Some are folk dances, traditionally performed at family parties and weddings in arabic countries, and stick dances, which is where some of the English folk or morris dancing is said to have stemmed from. The outfits worn for this folk style of arabic dance contrast quite dramatically with those worn for the cabaret style. The cabaret dances that we perform show the other side of arabic dance, the side that more people are familiar with. Sequins and glitter abound and often the costumes are much more revealing. These dances range from quite restrained and introvert to very out-going and, at times, downright cheeky! When performing we try to give our audience a good mixture of all styles of the dance. We also give you the chance to hear the different styles of arabic music, from traditional pieces to modern day 'pop'. Each dance, if you want, can have a short introduction explaining it's style and origin. Our set usually ends with a 'come-and-try-it' session where everyone is encouraged to get up and try this wonderful dance with us. We are available for both private functions, festivals and charity events. For private functions such as parties, weddings, club events, luncheons etc. there is a fee.
